Why does art need to be perfect?

Why throw rules on how to become a good artist onto us?
Why give us direction on how to do it right?
Why send us to the greatest artists for learning?

Why do we need the best learning to become good artists?

Cant we choose what we want to create, in the way we want to create it?

Our flaws is not a negative barrier.
Our flaws can create new and exiting things.

With our flaws we can create something no one else has created.

Only going for what is and looks natural is one of hundreds of paths.
And its not the only "right" one.
You have the choice to go all the paths.
There shouldnt be just a few to choose from, you make up your own.
Art isnt restricted and neither is your imagination.

Art doesnt need to be perfect to be amazing.

Not everyone wants to become the artist who can paint photorealism or make perfect anatomy.

Me on the other hand love to go into all types to learn as much as i can, not everyone want that, they probly found one thing they like, if that is furry art, anime, cartoon, sonic, mlp, that is what makes them happy.

theres no rule saying that you have to learn 100% proper anatomy, color theory etc. to be able to create something awesome, or even sell your art.

You choose this yourself. And you shouldnt be taken less serious if thoose things arent what you want to do.

I see alot of artists looking down at people who dont draw proper anatomy because it makes their picture look wrong.

Why does it have a need to look right?

Art isnt perfect. And it shouldnt have to be either.

We put effort into things we feel like we want to make diffrent, or improve. This can take alot of time, and its diffrent for everyone.

Personally i dont want to rush into getting everything looking amazingly right. I have fun with my art and I do it at the time needed.

And neither do i believe that you have to draw "good" to create something awesome.

BUT before people who is all for learn anatomy and rules flame me,
LEARNING anatomy and all the other rules can be an advantage, because then you can choose not to use it.

Rules are here to be broken just as much as used :la:

I should probably let you know I printed this off and have it pinned up on my cork-board :3 Its very inspirational, and I think a lot of artists will get into that comparison trap(I know I do). Applying a set of rules to being an artist, is unrealistic. It's art for gods sake, its a creative process and being creative should have no boundaries or limits.
That said, I do agree every artist should at least learn the basics of anatomy and color/shading...all the fun stuff, but I will say that is not what makes you a good artist. I think every single artist out there is amazing and wonderful in their own beautiful way...you stated this easily.

Anyway, thank you so much for writing this prose, its helped me get out of that damn comparison trap as an artist. It's very well said, and has really earned the attention.

Yes, pretty true. Our art teacher focuses on shading, shading and more shading, but the art I like to do is cartoonish, so shading is no matter there... -_- I'm lucky that on DA, I've avoided both receiving and giving this kind of stupid nonsense that art has to be a particular way.
